Jobs in City of London, London

Acteon Jobs
 Permanent
Posted about : 10 days ago
 Expires in: 18 days

We are a leading privately-owned energy services company that operates in some of the world's most challenging offshore and onshore environments. Incorporating over 25 portfolio companies, our footprint is global and growing. As the energy industry transitions to a low-carbon future and as we invest in new territories and technologies, our continued success relies on a deep understanding of the ongoing performance of each of the companies within our group.

Based in our London office and reporting into our COO, the Insights team is central to that effort. Each of our companies operate with their own unique set of challenges, and the Insights team work in the space between those companies and the COO to ensure the right decisions are made at the right time. This role is an opportunity to feed that decision-making process and ultimately improve the way we do business with cutting edge analytics and business intelligence.

This role will give you the opportunity to…
* Work for a company primed for growth. We've recently completed 4 acquisitions and will continue to grow our portfolio in line with an ambitious strategy for our future.
* Learn what makes a company tick. You'll be engaging with portfolio companies across our group, maximising your understanding of their operating models, and ultimately applying that knowledge and insight in the pursuit of maximising commercial performance.
* Develop and refine your understanding of the energy industry. We work in a dynamic and challenging space that requires a genuine appetite for developing new skills and applying them to improve the way we do business.
* Define your own career path. We maintain a flat organisational structure and you'll have the opportunity to showcase your skills to our executive leadership. We encourage our Analysts to think about their long-term future at Acteon.

A bit about you…
* You have an undergraduate degree, achieving at least a 2:1.
* You have experience working as an Analyst and are comfortable drawing insights from large datasets. Experience working with Power BI (or similar solutions) and programming languages like SQL are an advantage.
* You have an interest in analysing companies and what makes them profitable.
* You have an interest in the energy industry (oil and gas, renewables etc.) and the changing global energy landscape.
* You are focused on delivering high quality work and have a natural attention to detail.
* You are a confident communicator, comfortable working with a range of stakeholders and able to explain your ideas succinctly.
* You are a self-starter, able to spot where you can add value and follow your ideas through to delivery.

Your role will involve…
* Oversight of the commercial performance of a range of our portfolio companies. You'll regularly report your findings directly to the COO as part of a monthly review process.
* In-depth review and analysis of capital expenditure proposals. These proposals form the basis of our investments in capacity and technology, and ultimately underpin much of our growth. You'll be responsible for making sure these investment cases are fit for scrutiny by our executive leadership team.
* Ongoing engagement with companies across our group. Your relationships with stakeholders in our portfolio companies will be central to Acteon's understanding of the key challenges and opportunities underpinning their performance.
* Discrete projects to support our executive leadership team or any of our group companies. You'll be using your knowledge, network and commercial nous to address real challenges that impact our bottom line.
