Management Trainer

Jobs in Reading,Berkshire,South East England

Yell Group Jobs
 Permanent
Posted about : a month ago
 Expires in: 15 hours

 Benefits: Excellent Salary & Benefits

At Yell, we continuously challenge the way we operate in order to achieve efficiencies and improve effectiveness of processes. A critical element of this, within the Human Resources department, is the approach to learning and development across the entire business which has, historically, had a heavy focus on sales and customer service development.

We are now looking to add the capability of a Management Trainer to the L&D team at Yell. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering pragmatic yet impactful management learning programmes at all levels of an organisation: from front-line to senior managers. Management development has not been an area of focus within Yell for some time so it is important to approach this role with a willingness to 'get stuck in' by designing and hosting virtual training sessions as well as - over time - returning to some face-to-face learning. This is an individual contributor role, reporting to the Head of Learning and Development.

Day to day

  • Liaise with key stakeholders across the business to understand capability gaps in management across the site(s) and department(s).
  • Design, deliver and evaluate management and soft skills training, in line with business needs and be willing and able to adjust approach to programmes to support learners and the organisation
  • Understand the support needs of different departments and be able to prioritise which areas of the organisation require the most urgent attention.
  • Assess the impact of learning interventions and provide regular statistics / reporting to track the impact of soft skill training
  • Working in collaboration with senior leaders, ensure new managers are on-boarded effectively and efficiently, e.g. by hosting a quarterly two-day management training to align newly hired or promoted managers to the required standards
  • Embed the Yell Values and Behaviours into learning modules, thus supporting the culture change ambitions of the organisation
  • Provide 1:1 coaching support for managers as required
  • Ownership of overall career development programmes in support of talent & succession management
  • Support new line managers throughout their first six to 12 months in the organisation; working in collaboration with their respective line managers
  • We may ask the incumbent to manage Yell's apprentice levy scheme.

Skills and experience required

  • Experience working in a corporate management development role
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering fit-for-purpose learning solutions
  • Ability to demonstrate using data how learning interventions supported culture change (for example through increased scores related to personal learning & development in engagement surveys, etc.)
  • Experience of working with managers at all levels of the organisation, from front-line managers to senior level managers and executives.
  • Confidence to advise the business on skill gaps and learning needs of managers and ability to translate these needs into pragmatic learning programmes
  • Commercial and financial acumen
  • Experience working in high demand environments, to targets & tight deadlines
  • Ability to use technology to aid learning (Word / PowerPoint / Excel /Microsoft Team or other technologies). Remote delivery of learning programmes will be 'de rigour' for a while!

Person specification

  • A confident and engaging self-starter with a positive, 'can-do' attitude
  • Qualifications in Leadership & Management skills/training (CIPD qualified or similar)
  • A well-rounded leadership development professional
  • Passionate, resilient and personality with uncompromising integrity
  • Willingness to take Ownership of processes and see these through to completion
  • Openness to embracing new ways of working
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Strong command and understanding of models, frameworks, tools and solutions to increase leadership effectiveness, including but not limited to: culture change, emotional intelligence, change management, high performing team effectiveness, coaching, Situational Leadership
