Here at Cordant People we are currently recruiting a Machine Operator for a client of ours based in Monmouth. This could be a straight up Permanent job for the right person or a temp to Permanent role. Having previous experience as a Machine Operator is essential for this role, preferably in the food industry although that is not essential. The key role of the Machine Operator is to ensure lines operate to optimum efficiency between 08:00 and 16:00 daily. Once lines are operational, support the Team Leader in supervising the processes and the personnel within the Department. Machine Operators will attempt to solve problems that arise before informing the Team Leader and or Production Manager in a timely fashion. Main job roles: Ensure all working practices are set up with the safety of team members paramount at all times. Ensure the swift, accurate and safe set-up of machines each morning and during changeovers minimising downtime at all times. Monitor the quality of the finished goods manufactured are in line with specification. Weight checks, Seal Integrity checks etc. Communicate any quality related issues with the Quality Control Dept. Ensure FOL checks are carried out for every product. Communicate any machine issues to the Team Leader or Manager in a timely fashion. To maintain the departmental GMP standards at all times. To undertake adhoc tasks as instructed by the Team Leader or Manager when requested. To mentor new starters in the operation and cleaning of machinery. To support the Team Leader and Manager in the development of best practices and continuous improvement. Lead team by example regarding diligent application to Standard Operating Procedures, Health & Safety, Employee Handbook and HACCP regulations, whilst maintaining good timekeeping and attendance. Act professionally at all times when representing the company either internally or externally. To ensure the safe isolation of all machines including compressors on a daily basis. Check all machines / conveyors are isolated when not in use including breaks. Mentor junior operators on the safe and efficient use of all equipment. Ensure routine preventative maintenance is carried out.Main Skills required: Mechanical background Enjoys and has experience operating machines. Good numeracy skills. Submit reports and data to continually improve the service we offer. You will be accountable for cost management and budgeting. Monitoring and driving improvement across a number of performance measures including speed of service, standard/next day delivery, collections, C2C, claims/enquiries and end of life to ensure customer and client satisfaction. Essential skills and experience required: A full UK car driving licence with less than 6 penalty points as you'll drive between sites across your region. The ability to deal with people and conflict, you will need to be able to think on your feet and come up with solutions to problems. You must be highly organised and efficient in being able to prioritise and manage sometimes conflicting problems as they arise. A good geographical knowledge of the local area that you will be responsible for. You will be required to work on a weekend on a rotation basis and must also be available to deal with any major problems/issues outside of the usual 9-5 as and when they arise. You will already have previous experience of managing a team, coaching and interviewing/recruiting people.  Without all this experience, unfortunately we will not be able to consider your application. Responsibilities Guide Undertaking feasibility studies including preparing reports, cost estimates, investigating problems and identifying options Taking a leading role in the design, inspection or assessment of major civil engineering structures and bridges Designing projects in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridgeworks and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works Preparing schemes for tender typically using the NEC3/4 Forms of Contract The ability to set and work to personal deadlines and targets to meet the requirements of programmes of work, to meet clients' needs and to respond to targets set by others Able to assist in preparing fee estimates and bid work Assisting with the commercial and financial control of your project To demonstrate excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing at a general and technical level Ensuring compliance of the team's work with a high regard to Health and Safety and the application of the CDM Regulations and other legislation Supervising graduate engineers and technicians Supervision of and responsibility for members of the team, including programming and allocating work and assisting in the training and development of staff, setting goals and monitoring their performance Abide by the objectives and targets of both the section and the department and follow procedures and practices utilised in all aspects of the work, including computerised and manual systems and the maintenance of relevant records Essential Qualifications/Experience/Skills A Bachelors or Masters Degree in Civil Engineering or a related subject accredited by the Engineering Council. Ideally you will already be or fast approaching Chartered Member status of the Institution of Civil Engineers (CEng MICE) or Institution of Structural Engineers (CEng IStructE) A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in the design of all aspects of highways and civil engineering design and construction An extensive knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation, standards and procedures.
