TeamJobs are working with a fantastic School in the Sherborne area who are looking for a HR Advisor to join their Team.

About the Role:

As a HR Advisor, you'll be at the heart of HR operations, offering expert advice and support across various HR functions. Your role will involve:

  • Delivering dedicated HR advisory services, handling everything from absence management to grievance matters.
  • Supporting managers in optimising employee performance through effective performance management processes.
  • Guiding managers through complex employee relations cases, ensuring compliance with policies, employment law, and best practices.
  • Keeping our staff handbook and HR policies up-to-date and aligned with legal and cultural standards.
  • Leading the recruitment and selection process, ensuring adherence to Safer Recruitment procedures.
  • Managing key HR processes such as appraisals, maternity leave, pay reviews, and probation periods.
  • Overseeing sickness absence casework, providing recommendations, advice, and support to managers.
  • Preparing and issuing contractual documentation for appointments, terminations, and employment variations.
  • Staying current with employment legislation and HR best practices, sharing knowledge with senior leadership for continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring accurate maintenance of the Central Register to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Contributing to the enhancement of HR systems, practices, and policies in line with ethos and business plan.
  • Consulting on workplace relations and performance management issues.
  • Maximising the use of ADP HR system.
  • Providing advisory services to employees, ensuring they are informed of their rights and entitlements.

What We're Looking For:

  • At least 5 years of generalist HR experience, ideally within an academic environment.
  • CIPD qualification.
  • Strong administrative and IT skills, including proficiency in Excel.
  • Solid understanding and practical application of Employment Law.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, determination, and drive for excellent results.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to prioritise work in a busy environment.
  • Team player with a commitment to group goals.

Working Hours -

  • Hours: 08:30am to 5pm.
  • 25 days Holiday per annum plus Bank Holidays.
