Job Title: Part-time Head of Technical - Food
Location: East Suffolk
Salary: �27,000 (�40,000 - �45,000 Pro Rata)
Job Description:
We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead / "Head of" to join a small team on a part-time basis (3 days a week Mon - Wed or Tues - Thurs ) at one of the UK's fastest growing food manufacturer. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in rapidly growing business, where you will have an opportunity to make a difference! The role will start as three days and move into a 5 day role as the business grows.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve BRC Accreditation: Lead the transition from SALSA to BRC accreditation as soon as possible.
  • Build and Develop the Technical Department: Establish and expand the technical department to support both organic growth and acquisitions.
  • New Product Development (NPD): Assist with an agreed program of NPD to drive innovation and growth.
  • Timely Reporting: Provide necessary and timely reports to help management run the business in compliance with all technical standards and regulations.
  • Customer and Sales Support: Offer technical support to customers and sales teams to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee HACCP, TACCP, and VACCP processes to maintain high standards of food safety and quality.
  • Supplier Management: Ensure all suppliers are approved, deliveries are quality checked, documentation is complete, and specifications are met.
  • Brand Quality: Ensure the production and delivery of products meet the quality standards of our brand.
  • Systems and Procedures: Implement and enforce systems and procedures, supporting the production team to achieve compliance.
  • Training: Provide comprehensive training on all aspects of food safety, quality, systems, and processes.
  • Manage Technical Apprentice: Oversee the development and progress of a Technical Apprentice within the department.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a similar role within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of food safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with BRC and SALSA accreditation processes.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
