Pay Scale: £75 - £100 Per Day

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and experienced Graduate Teaching AssistantPrimary to join a welcoming and supportive Primary School in Gateshead. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in a primary school setting, supporting teachers and contributing to students' learning journeys, and kick-start your career in education.

Job Summary:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant - Primary, you will work closely with class teachers to provide support across various subjects. Responsibilities include assisting with lesson preparation, working with small groups or one-on-one with students, and helping to manage classroom behaviour.

Job Responsibilities of Graduate Teaching Assistant – Primary:


  • Work alongside teacher to ensure an appropriate environment for learning.


  • Provide personalized support to students, nurturing academic excellence and helping them to overcome learning challenges.
  • Aid in classroom management and help students during lesson to understand contents and complete assignments.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive classroom atmosphere, encouraging student participation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective support strategies.
  • Monitor and reporting on students' progress, adapting support strategies as needed.

Essential Requirements of Graduate Teaching Assistant – Primary:


  • A recent Graduate in Education or a related field and a strong interest in pursuing a career in education.
  • Ability to work well under the guidance of a lead teacher.
  • Demonstrate a proactive, energetic, and caring approach to work with Primary level students.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.


  • Previous experience working with Primary children is preferred. 
  • Effective communication skills and enthusiasm for educational success, also encouraging students to achieve their academic goals.
