Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
Scope of the Role:
The EV Homologation Engineer will be responsible for detailed understanding of current and future BEV Efficiency certification in major and developing markets.
Dimension of Function:
Engineering, Research and Development (ER&D) is a growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on projects and programmes for our clients. The SME will work with the wider PED team and other teams in the business to create a detailed understanding of current and future certification landscape and develop tools and processes.
Contacts:
ER&D Core, Customer interfaces- Vehicle Engineering/Attributes/CoCs/Launch/Prototype/Validation/IoPD/SMEs and Tech Experts/Internal & external legislation, homologation & Certification agencies or Govt. departments.
Areas of Responsibility:
This position is responsible for planning and delivery of BEV Certification Landscape in the PED area. You will have responsibility for:
Be Responsible for detailed understanding of current and future BEV Efficiency certification in major and developing markets
Lead the creation and continuous improvement of certification Data Handling process and tools.
Have Close interaction with compliance, legislation and certification teams
Identifying risks and opportunities in a robust data-driven manner with the purpose of informing and influencing business decisions and engineering direction related to BEV Certification
Use knowledge of points above to bring points/issues/resolutions to relevant sessions.
Report out daily/weekly/monthly summary reports to Senior stakeholders
Significant experience in creation and improvement of use of engineering & data handling tools, processes and problem resolution.
Skills:
Must have:
Strong technical engineering background with evidence of a methodical, structured approach to problem solving
Strong communication skills and team work ability to work cross functionally with a wide range of customers at all levels
Knowledge of vehicle efficiency EV certification methods, processes, and implementation (WLTP, EPA NAS, CLTC, UN ECE, as a minimum)
Knowledge / Experience:
Essential:
Engineering qualification (academic or vocational) in:- Engineering, Pure sciences.
Strong foundation Knowledge of legislative cycles and regulations related to EV range homologation (WLTP GTR15, EPA 5-Cycle CFR 40 Part 600, CLTC GBT 18386.1-#####, UNECE R101, R154, R83, etc.)
Strong knowledge of the mathematics needed to get to the efficiency/EV range declaration process of different legislation process globally (WLTP & EPA NAS critical)
Experience of interfacing with multiple stakeholder involved in BEV range homologation process
Knowledge and working understanding of data processes and exchanges that is involved across different teams to get to range / efficiency declaration
Strong technical engineering background with evidence of a methodical, structured approach to problem solving
Good communication skills, with the ability to simplify and articulate complex technical subject matters
Data handling tools, Python, 1-D simulation etc
PC Literacy: Excellent Microsoft Outlook, Power Point, Excel, Word, Data handling tools, Python, 1-D simulation skills
Preferred:
Knowledge and/or experience of component/rig testing methodologies related to vehicle efficiency.
Experience in use of JIRA or similar task management platform.
