Job Title: European Operations Team Leader

Location: Gloucester

Contract Details: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary: �30,000 to �32,000 per year

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 am - 05:30 pm with 1 hour lunch break

Responsibilities:

As the European Operations Team Leader, you will lead a small team of operational staff, ensuring the efficient running of the European Operations department on a day-to-day basis. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing all aspects of freight operations, including cargo booking, routing, tracking, documentation, Customs clearance, and compliance with industry regulations
  • Planning weekly export trailers efficiently to maximise trailer payloads
  • Developing key service relationships with customers, colleagues, and overseas agents to provide efficient and effective service
  • Ensuring good internal communication between key departments to ensure efficient loading and transport of customer goods
  • Resolving and managing customer/agent queries courteously and efficiently
  • Adding charges and accruals to shipments
  • Arranging all-risk insurance for high-value/client-sensitive shipments
  • Working with the team to align and streamline internal processes
  • Deputising for the Branch Manager as and when required

Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following:

  • Experience of working in a freight forwarding/logistics role, particularly European road freight (essential)
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • Clear and confident communication
  • Analytical & accurate, with excellent attention to detail
  • Assertiveness
  • Computer literacy and the ability to learn how to use new systems effectively
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team player
  • Confident using Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Good attention to detail when handling data
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise workload

Desirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

The following are desirable but not essential qualifications and experience:

  • Experience of working in a supervisory role
  • Ability to load/plan/route export trailers for cost-effective groupage trailer planning with experience in using weights, volumes, and loading metres
