Job Title: Engineering Manager



Location: Edinburgh



Salary: Circa £55k



Shift: Day Shift, Monday to Friday



Are you an adaptable and hands-on Engineering Manager looking for a new challenge? We are seeking a proactive individual to take responsibility for the engineering operations at a leading food manufacturing site in Edinburgh. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact by overseeing maintenance activities, driving improvements, and ensuring smooth operations within a dynamic production environment.




  • Oversee Engineering Operations: Ensure day-to-day engineering and maintenance activities are completed efficiently, minimising downtime and ensuring production runs smoothly.

  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and profitability across the manufacturing process, implementing sustainable solutions that benefit the business.

  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPMs): Manage and implement PPM schedules, ensuring all tasks are completed on time and equipment remains in top working order.

  • Stock and Asset Management: Maintain critical spares stock, keep asset registers up to date, and ensure site equipment is properly calibrated and tested.

  • Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining documentation such as risk assessments and safety protocols for the engineering function.

  • Shutdown Management: Plan and execute maintenance shutdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to production and all work is completed safely.

  • Reporting and Strategy: Attend senior management meetings, reporting on engineering progress and contributing to the overall strategy of the business.



What We're Looking For:




  • recognised engineering qualification or completed apprenticeship, ideally with an electrical bias.

  • Experience in an engineering role, ideally within food manufacturing or a similar production environment.

  • Strong knowledge of health and safety standards, with relevant qualifications or proven experience.

  • A proactive, problem-solving approach, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with other departments.
