Location: You are expected to attend our head office in Bradford, Buttershaw (BD6 2SZ) whenever required, with travel to other locations being expected as part of your role. This may involve regular travel to London, which would be paid through expenses.
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday Friday between the working window of 8:00am-6:00pm.

Where you fit in:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Affairs Manager (Policy and Programme) to join the Corporate Affairs Leadership Team (CALT) in the Strategy & Regulation directorate.

As Corporate Affairs Manager (Policy & Programme) you will act as a core member of the CALT, managing two members of staff.

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs, you will lead the creation of external facing policy positions and steer our engagement with regulatory stakeholders and national decision-makers.

You will be part of the management team ensuring that the Corporate Affairs function achieves its objectives. You will assist the Head of Corporate Affairs with strategic planning, and will actively drive outcomes for the team, company and our operating region.

Together with other members of the Corporate Affairs Leadership Team, you will regularly provide detailed reports to the company executive and Board.

You will drive the development of external facing policy positions, as well as overseeing an engagement strategy for national and regulatory stakeholders. This will cover relevant national politicians, key regulators, interest groups, thinktanks, businesses, and industry groups.

You will be expected to frequently engage with stakeholders at a senior level, promoting the policy priorities of the company.

You will
Proactively steer policy development, including setting the agenda for the internal monthly Policy and Influencing Group (including the Chief Executive and Directors) and engaging with subject matter experts to prepare reports and briefing materials. This will include both managing the process from beginning to end, including identifying opportunities and risks.
Lead the wider Corporate Affairs programme management, including overseeing central functions such as Board preparation, horizon scanning, team strategy and internal facing communication functions.
Act as a senior spokesperson for the company in public meetings with national stakeholders (including MPs, APPGs, political policy officials etc), including in meetings open to the public and which may be broadcast to a wider audience.
Ensure that the company has clear policy positions across all key areas, and where appropriate that influencing strategies are created and implemented.
Manage two team members, focussing on national and regulatory engagement, proactive regional engagement, as well as providing support to across the entire regional area of work.
What skills and qualifications you will need:
Experience of policy creation, preferably within a civil service or thinktank environment.
The ability to explain complex issues in simple and accessible terms
A track record of driving improvement within your team.
Significant experience of stakeholder engagement, including identifying strategies for engagement
Previous experience of incident management.
Previous experience in a senior public affairs role.
Experience of representing a high-profile organisation in public forums, including with national stakeholders
Experience of identifying reputational risk and taking mitigating actions.
Experience of building relationships with senior stakeholders across a range of organisations.
Experience as a member of a leadership team and of engaging with company Board members.
The role will involve travel to different sites across Yorkshire, therefore you will need a UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.

We embrace a flexible working model, but as a manager you will be expected to meet the needs of your role. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
