Where will I be working?
You will be based at our Elga Veolia Manufacturing facility in Lane End, High Wycombe under the Supervision of our Principal Production Engineer who leads the Automation and Robotics project across the Production Operation.
What will I be doing?
Within our Production facility we are continuously striving to improve our assembly and test processes via the development and implementation of automation and robotics. Not only will the implementation of robotics and automation improve our build quality, our right first time and also our production efficiencies, it also allows our multi skilled technicians to focus on the more complex tasks relating to the build and test of our market leading products.
We are looking for someone to work within the Production Engineering team to execute a 1 project within the Production Operation focused on Automation and Robotics. We have a number of labour intensive jobs across the Production facility that have already been identified where we could utilise robotics and automation to reduce the labour involved and improve our product quality and consistency. The project would run for the entire 12 month period with the aim of full implementation resulting in great benefit to the department.
The following specific objectives would be targeted throughout the internship:
* Identify a suitable project working with the team and using the pareto analysis.
* Review the current processes to justify the potential impact.
* Produce brief for the project.
* Develop any electro-mechanical engineering requirements.
* Produce prototypes if required and process map the improvements.
* Determine ROI for project costs and payback.
* Justify the impact of the project.
* Work with external suppliers and internal stakeholders to develop the technical requirements.
* Lead the implementation of the project working with cross functional teams.
* Provide training and documentation to the team.
* Review success of the project.
Do I have what it takes?
The following skills would be desirable but not all essential:
* An Engineering background with a technical, creative mindset.
* The ability to work through problems in a methodical and logical manner.
* Previous experience working with CAD packages (Creo, Solidworks etc)
* Previous experience in a Manufacturing based environment.
* An understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control principles.
* Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
* Strong Numeracy, Literacy skills.
* Strong IT skills in all Google or equivalent packages, Docs, Sheets, Slides etc.
