As far back as I can remember, I have always had a strong passion for animals. I loved visiting my grandparents farm as a child, spending most of my time with the border collies and cats. From an early age we had a variety of pets and I currently have a dog, cat, 2 geckos and a hedgehog. I have learnt that it's not just about loving my pets, but also about exercise, feeding, cleaning etc. to ensure they lead good long healthy lives. In working with these pets and my experience on the farm, I find that I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty and I'm not squeamish! I understand that different animals require different handling, and I have a calm and confident manner around animals. I also have respect for the fact that some animals have an unpredictable nature and as such can be dangerous if approached or handled incorrectly. My dream is to become a veterinary nurse and work with animals full time. To help me achieve this goal, I have just qualified as an Animal nursing assistant after studying at Cafre, Greenmount. I am also working full-time at All Creatures Vets in Limavady as a nursing assistant.
