Address: 38 Stoneybeck, Bishop Middleham, County Durham, DL179BL. Phone: Candidate Email: ##### I am an enthusiastic, accomplished and committed teacher, with rich experience in a range of settings. My academic background is in the Humanities, which I continue to cultivate through self-education. My passion for study developed into an enriching career as an EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teacher in rural China; I grappled with challenging objective circumstances, enhanced my ability to adapt through self-study of Mandarin Chinese, and cultivated superb learning experiences through application of various pedagogies. I am a dynamic individual; I recently attained QTS (Qualified teacher Status) as a secondary history teacher, which saw my practice evolve to a qualitatively higher level. This was accomplished through a reflective and determined approach to my practice, which provided me with the opportunity to teach both collaboratively and independently at Key Stage Five. I overcame the challenges of teacher training, while achieving a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) and progressing through a subject specialism course. I have since applied my impressive flexibility as a supply teacher, where I have taught History, Geography, and English, in addition to expanding my knowledge of SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities) by educating individuals with moderate to severe learning difficulties across the 3 -18 age range.

I am now seeking a new direction and challenge, my long term aspiration is to be a Support Worker within a support agency. I have been a volunteer and worker with Lifeline and a peer mentor with Durham Tees Valley Probation service. I have completed a Level 3 in Health and Social Care and Level 3 Teaching Training. As an extremely motivated, hardworking and reliable NQT with high expectations in behaviour, presentation, effort and academic output, along with my experience in year 5, I have proven I can accomplish positive and professional relationships with both staff and children from all backgrounds, needs (such as Social and Emotional, Autism Spectrum Disorder, slow processing, English as an Additional Language and hearing impairments) and abilities. My belief is that positive relationships are built on an understanding of the attributes of the individual child which in turn helps inform meticulous planning, resources and deployment of both myself and the teaching assistant. I use innovative and imaginative ideas which are often cross - curricular throughout lessons in order to promote a love of learning and engage children. I appreciate that each child is an individual and must be treated as one. This may be through a variety of learning styles such as visual, audio or kinaesthetic and differentiation. My behaviour management techniques are tailored for both the class and individuals using reward systems, positive praise and clear rules and routines. These strategies are paramount to promote pupil progress, and along with formative and summative assessments, pupils under my direction have been encouraged to reflect on their own progress and identify gaps for improvements. Various approaches such as a traffic light system and peer assessment give pupils a sense of responsibility and self-development. Throughout my time in induction I found that whilst peer assessment worked it was at its most beneficial when engaging the reluctant learners in the class. Benefitting from a Catholic education, I believe I have a well-developed understanding of the Catholic faith and consider that this should not just be taught in RE in insolation but also instilled into the ethos of the school by collective worships and displays as well as helping children deal with and relate to current issues they might be facing.

My current interest in education is to further develop my teaching at an outstanding primary school in a new country. At 20 I signed up to teach English in China where I discovered a desire to begin a career in teaching. On my return to England, I took an access to HE course whilst working as Head Waiter in a Michelin-starred restaurant. After receiving a national award for outstanding academic achievement, I gained entry to a Primary Education degree with QTS at Durham University. Here I am thriving in an environment that challenges the way we view education and am predicted to be awarded a high First-Class honors degree classification. After my Degree, I hope that my next step will be to work as an NQT teacher in a school that can continue to nurture my growth in the field, and to discover a new nation away from the United Kingdom.
