I am an enthusiastic person who is committed to any job or task that is given to me. I endeavour to complete the tasks on time and will go to the extra mile if necessary to ensure that all tasks are completed. I am flexible in my approach to learning and employment. I am dependable as I do not like to let people down as this can impact on others. I am keen to learn new skills to enhance my career development and I am prepared to take part in any training opportunities. Although I have not had paid work since leaving school I have undertaken various voluntary jobs whilst at the same time studying full-time at Dundee and Angus College. I trained as a Peer Mentor with Xplore for several years and volunteered with the Cat Protection League. My most enjoyable volunteering experience was at Ninewells Hospital when I emotionally supported dementia patients twice a week for six months. I only gave this up due to pressures of college work. I currently volunteer with Foolish Optimism, a campaign that focuses on raising awareness of young people with mental health issues. This experience has made me realise that I would wish to have a long-term career within the care sector. This would preferably be with children and young adults. My long-term goal is to work as a Child Psychologist. Although I am returning to College for the academic year 2019/20 to undertake a HNC in Social Services I would wish to work in this sector alongside attending college.
