I am a genuine caring individual who is used to working hard and under pressure. I am calm, confident and a good listener. I display empathy and believe in giving individuals time to work through and process situations/instructions with patience promoting positive relationships. I use technology to assist documenting on the go to ensuring accurate daily notes are prepared to show care and engagement with the PWS.I am really conscientious about Safeguarding I am a willing learner and I am not afraid of a challenge. I have always enjoyed a person centred approach to all I undertake and after 20yrs in Education I felt the focus became all about attainment and didn't celebrate the progress of some of the children with lower academic starting points or EAL. This left me in dismay and unfulfilled in my previous job. During my support worker role I believe I have developed and used all the above skills in a person centred approach to working with young adults/adolescents who display challenging behaviour in Supported Living settings. I have worked with elderly people, a befriending service, babysat, Foster carer Support, animals, visited Nursing homes taking a group of children from school, In my personal life my partner was a single parent to 2 physically demanding teens with extremely challenging behaviour. This sparked my desire to change my career to a support workers role which is so fulfilling. I am an extremely hard worker, an excellent team member and always do my best in the interest of the person supported. I am a natural observer and use this to determine swiftly changes in people's mood, mannerisms and their mental state. I'm not afraid to ask if I have any doubts and go the extra mile if necessary. I have undertaken lots of extra training online and endeavour to emulate best practice at all times I am a car owner/ driver with an excellent work ethic. I use my own car to transport people we support ( business insurance) and also drive vehicles belonging to individuals and mini bus to ensure appointments can be kept and access to a wide range of activities/venues specific to who I am supporting can be undertaken to meet their specific needs.
