I hold a 1st class (hons) in Business Technology Management and have over 25 years' experience within procurement and commercial management covering a number of categories specialising in technology since 1999. Working within a number of sectors from global IT service providers to blue chip private sector end user organisations to Public sector I bring experience gained on both sides of the fence as well as a deep knowledge of supply chains and the ability to engage at a technical level to deliver optimum costs and solutions working within cross functional teams having been accountable for the commercial aspects, drafting and negotiating complex contracts and managing flow downs and flow ups with both suppliers and external customer. I'm highly analytical but recognise that whilst analysis can establish fact and develop strategies it's only part of the job and I am a pragmatic, effective and agile negotiator able to work in difficult and occasionally aggressive or hostile situations. A significant proportion of my experience has been within bid environments has allowed me to develop an innovative and individual approach to long term sustainable solutions, no one wins bids by doing the obvious. My experience spans hardware, software (COTS, SaaS, bespoke, development and support) and services (including BPO) and I have held responsibility for all stages of the procurement from initial requirements gathering, scoping, supplier selection solution development and drafting of preliminary documents such as RFI's as well as having inputs into the business case, ITT creation, contract drafting, negotiation, service delivery, ongoing vendor management and SRM. Within these areas I have significant experience of contract drafting and negotiation having frequently been responsible for major contracts ( £ 100m). My background within SI's has given me a good level of technical capability and have frequently taken full ownership of both the technical and commercial requirements and deliverables on less technically complex projects. This experience has enabled me to take a resilient approach with stakeholders and can speak their language, I understand the technology, the benefits and the risks and can often propose alternative approaches or strategies based on my previous experience and a fresh approach to old problems. This experience often supplements and augments the existing experience pool within end user environments and having spent 10 years as an interim before returning to permanent work I have a flexible and people centric approach and can develop strong working relationships quickly.
