OVERVIEW
Getting the best out of people is my ultimate objective. I have a truly unique skill, in being able to see beyond the
facades presented by most people and quickly get through to the true person – enabling them to be the best they can be.
I am skilled at employing a variety of professional skills aimed at enhancing productivity, effectiveness and efficiency
of
both
groups
and
individuals. These
skills include
psychological
techniques, assessments, CPD,
motivational
training, seminars, lectures and workshops etc. I am a very creative thinker and pragmatic practitioner.
I am a well qualified and highly experienced teacher with 5 years of middle-management experience; where I have
honed my leadership skills by modelling the best practice of others in leadership roles. Following a March 2015 Ofsted
inspection, my teaching practice was accessed to be outstanding. I am an inspirational leader and education practitioner
with a certain gift for getting the best out of the people in my sphere of influence.
My philosophy of education is one of preparing the student for the realities of Higher Education and/or the world of
employment – this addresses their academic abilities as well as their character and outlook for the future. My
philosophy involves excellence, discipline, innovation, independence, initiative, responsibility, resilience, diligence
and service. By way of personal student development/individual learner plans, these are the qualities I expect every
student to have embraced by the end of their education, in addition to their sound academic qualifications. These are
the very qualities that I will certainly model as a Health & Social Care lecturer.
Through my work, I have had the opportunity and pleasure of teaching a variety of subjects, for a very broad range of
learners, including KS5/AS & A2-Levels and BTEC National L3 Diploma (14 – 19 year old) learners, (mature) FE and
HE students as well as clinical practitioners of all levels of expertise and experience. Subjects include AQA Sociology,
AQA Psychology, Access to HE and other vocational programmes as well as Counselling & Psychotherapy workshops
and/or seminars.
I am practicing psychotherapist, providing practical and theoretical instruction in counselling and psychotherapy;
continuous personal development, career exploration as well as assisting practitioners of all levels to address, cope with
and overcome professional challenges. One of my aims will be to encourage and assist all that I work with to achieve
their personal career/development objectives. I am also a published author.
