Responsibilities & Achievements
My role with Journeycall was based on customer service in a fast paced environment, I assisted members of the public with enquiries and complaints about several transport services, some complex which I had to handle with professionalism and a sharp attention to detail. In my time at Journeycall I managed to strengthen my team player and my verbal and writing communication skills especially in pressure situations and flexible in my duties too.

I was based at the exit of the golf course where I had to guide spectators towards the Park & Ride, car parks and the train station from the Open golf championship at Carnoustie. I was part of a set up that was well prepared and went according to plan with no major incidents which contributed massively to the success of The Open at Carnoustie in the summer of 2018.

Working at a reception desk my job involved dealing with enquiries mostly on the telephone but sometimes in the office itself when visitors came in whilst presenting myself in a professional way, being highly responsible and reliable such as having a strong eye for detail and managing data efficiently, Working with young people and welcoming them into the centre when they visited. My achievements and skills gained in my time working with The Prince's Trust were: I grew in confidence I enjoyed working there as my colleagues and I all worked as a great team.

I carried out a variety of tasks from updating staffing holidays, the skills matrix and learning needs analysis using either Microsoft Excel or Word. I also manually created spreadsheets using Excel. I also assembled information packs on Universal Credit, carried out the duties of clearing out old documents ready for destroying, filing, photocopying & scanning. This position helped me gain valuable office skills.

My roles included assisting members of the public to the correct areas and any facilities which were on site. As the event catered for members of the public as well as celebrities it reinforced to me the need for a polite, professional and calm exterior in many different situations. I collaborated with several scoreboard operators to keep all relevant information regarding scoring, placing and positioning of teams up to date. I was also involved in the relaying of information regarding the next round playoffs between scoreboard and announcers.
The requirements for this role showed a need for absolute accuracy and an attribute which I apply in all areas of my life. I feel the experience I have gained from being a clydesider has highlighted that I enjoy being a team player and feel I played an active part in making the experience an enjoyable one for both the public and competitors alike.

My duties in this role included cash handling, stock taking, recording the sales, cashing up and closing down the shop at the end of business. The experience I gained from working in the college shop allowed me to use my increasing knowledge of sales, money, customer service, stock taking and ordering. This allowed me to gain experience working with the public face to face.

My job with Royal Mail in the former sorting office in Carnoustie involved: Posting letters, parcels and boxes, handing packages to customers who had to come and collect them from the office or pay a small postage fee for them before they could receive their mail and placing the mail in the right address slot. The experience of working in this post on the 2 occasions I did gave me a feel of what working life in an office and working outdoors is like. It also gave me something to work towards for the future and achieving the respect of the people who I worked with whilst carrying out my duties with a smile in all weathers.
