Skills and Achievements
Communication
Gained strong experience in communication whilst working closely with the public through jobs in the events, travel and hospitality industries which has allowed me to become more confident in approaching situations with new industry professionals. The majority of these were through face-to-face connections, however I have also managed to gain a lot of knowledge of connecting through email and over the phone.
Teamwork
Within every role that I have undertaken, some form of teamwork has been required, making my experience levels grow stronger each time. An example of when I have been involved teamwork whilst studying was through the main event task set at university. The task was to work effectively in a group whilst planning and organising a charity event for the public. As a group we ensured strong teamwork was apparent to help gain overall success and gain as much funds and awareness for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland. In the end, due to our strong team bond and effective work ethic, we managed to raise £1297.50 for charity whilst gaining a grade A overall.
Problem Solving
Within my travel consultant role, dealing with money and working out the logistics of financial and travel arrangements, especially for large group holidays, helped to enhance my problem-solving skills.
Organisation
Every role I have undertaken, within my university career as well as many work experiences, has required a strong level of organisation. The main task where this skill was required was during my 4th year of university, ensuring that all of my deadlines and tasks were completed efficiently. Within both the travel and events industry, organisation is a skill that is unbelievably important. I have managed to increase the skill level whilst assisting clients in Thomas Cook as well as when planning and organising my own events in New York City, making structured plans within both roles.
Leadership
Whilst completing my internship in New York City, I volunteered at the New York Coffee Festival, taking on the role as the head volunteers assistant. This role was very challenging, providing me with the chance to channel the leadership skills I learned at university to ensure I communicated with each individual within the team effectively. The head volunteer had to step out through the Saturday afternoon, putting me in charge of 60 volunteers at a busy Manhattan based event. This has helped my confidence levels to grow massively, particularly within demanding and unexpected situations.
Adaptability
Moving to New York City for 10 weeks and starting at a brand-new job after being in the city for just 1 day has increased my confidence levels and adaptability skills greatly, helping me to understand how quickly I can allow myself to preform to my best ability within a new role.
Additional Skills
Fully trained in Amadeus GDS: Certificate gained on 13th August 2020
TESOL/TEFL Diploma Certification: Gained on 17th July 2017 after completing 120 hours of classroom theory and 8 hours of teaching practices in Thailand. Providing me with an incredible experience whilst having the rewarding chance to benefit the lives of some of the local Thai children.
Very comfortable with using Microsoft Word Office as well as many social media channels
Driving Licence: Full clean licence
