About me

Time served mechanical fitter with over 7 years experience across the military, automotive and hgv sectors having moved into the renewable energy industry 2 years ago. Experience working across different countries and challenging environments.

Career History

Offshore service technician (contractor)  tManor Renewable Energy, July 2020  tPresent

Working as part of the service team at the RWE Rampion Offshore Wind farm off the South Coast of England, out of Newhaven harbour servicing V112 Vestas Wind Turbines. Day to day duties include.

•  Travel to turbine via CTV ensuring hse is maintained at all times and following the RAMS when gaining access onto the turbines offshore.

•  Rigging loads from ctv and lifting onto transition piece using the Palfinger davit crane.

•  Performing annual servicing & Maintenance, carrying out system checks and upgrades on the offshore turbines. •  Deep cleaning of WTG after servicing. •  General preventive maintenance .

•  Replacement of damaged components .

•  Performing confined space work within bottom section of turbine within the transition piece, using relevant documentation such as limited work permits. Use of gas detection units and adhering to HSE policy’s to ensure safe working practices.

•  Re tensioning of bolts within turbine tower assembly and foundation pieces. Wind turbine installation technician (contractor), Pre-assembly.  tBoston Energy, July 2019  tJuly 2020

Worked in a installation technician role on an MHI Vestas V164 Pre- Assembly site, in Vlissingen, Holland, as Part of the tower installation team. Involved in all aspects of site work. Day to Day duties include:

•  Installation of wind turbine towers  t including hydraulic torque and tensioning of bolts upon install. •  Mechanical completion including walkdowns and check lists.

•  Installing, inspection and commissioning Avanti dolphin lift, ladder & rail and anchor points. •  Isolation and LOTO procedures.

•  Rigging loads and banking of heavy cranes (up to approx. 400 tonnes) •  Cable pulling and preparation of cables.

•  Carrying out tower retrofits and upgrades and maintaining other turbine components as relevant. •  Working at height.

Participated in the safe, timeous and compliant installation of Siemens D7 Tower sections at the Pre-Assembly site, in accordance with work procedures, HSE guidelines and ISO quality standards.

Worked within a two-man service team travelling throughout the United Kingdom working on Endurance series turbines as well as NEG Micon, Vestas V29 and V90 models. Duties included;

•  Carrying out servicing inline with running hours schedule and service plan from company. •  General every day maintenance oil and lubricant check/Top ups

•  First yearly service - Gearbox oil changes from carrier to nacelle and pitch motors in the hub. •  Performing retro fits in line with most up to date work instructions

Worked within an award winning garage for BT Fleet services in the Leeds branch, progressed from technician to a work shop supervisor role for the last 4 months of my time with the company. Duties included;

•  Fault-finding, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing vehicles and other mechanical equipment.

The Offshore ServiceTechniciansin MHI Vestas OffshoreWind are working inteams of 2 or 3 on Offshore Wind Farmsin the Netherlands, managed daily bythe site Supervisor.The task includes routinechecks, maintenance ofthe electrical and mechanicalsystems, and significantcomponent replacement on our offshore wind turbines.The workschedule will include a weekend calloutrotation, depending on the weather.  Forthis site we do not workin rotation, meaningthatyou go home daily.
