    Entails: Before you could become a fully trained healthcare advisor, there is an exam you would need to take in order to be a certified healthcare advisor. To pass this exam you are given a booklet to revise from, which provides you with important knowledge that is required to know for this role. The role of a healthcare advisor is to address people medical concerns and issues with the right medication. Although there may not be a direct link towards business management and accounting, there are still a few skills which can be taken away from being a healthcare advisor to a role in business management or accounting. For example, attention to detail and staying focus, as my role would require me to pay attention to any bits of detail customers give to ensure I give them the correct medication, as giving customers the wrong medicine could result in serious consequences.


    Customer Assistant

    2016 - 2018

    Duties: This requirement of this role was to be able to give fantastic customer care and making them feel good. This just doesn't require you to just answer customer's questions, but to also provide them with as great experience. For example, when customers have concerns about a product, I can give them advice which includes providing them with alternatives. To be able to achieve this it comes down to the quality of my customer service, which you were able to track as customers tend to give reviews of their experience online. Furthermore, the role of a customer assistant included be able to attract customers and encourage them to sign up for a loyalty card. This specific task tested your sales ability and I'm proud to say I have always managed to achieve my target. Extra-Curricular Workshop History: Bloomberg - Visiting Bloomberg really opened my eyes and changed the way I imagined a workplace. Before my visit I pictured a workplace as an environment where people would come to work and be assigned their own segregated desks and get on with their work until its time for them to leave. However, once I had arrived at Bloomberg, I immediately noticed that their workplace was very social, and their employees weren't just limited to just their desks to carry out their work. Barclays Head Office - The visit to Barclays Head Office was linked to the course I had done with my sixth form called business professional pathways. Part of the course involved visiting Barclays head office a series of times to complete certain task in small groups from across 6 schools. This workshop tested our ability to not only complete the task, but to be able to communicate well with members of your group that we had not met before, as well as our team working skills. Grant Thornton - Having already aspired a potential career in accounting, attending the workshop at Grant Thornton gave me a glimpse of the working environment in a top accounting firm.     Professionally pathways is a course built for students who have a key interest in business and thoughts on pursing business as a potential career, this course focused on the financial and marketing perspective of business. While I was studying this course, I managed to achieve an equivalent of one A* and two A’s at A-level, as well as gaining awards for highest achiever in my class. This course also involved taking trips to businesses like Bloomberg which gave me an insight on how these businesses operate on a day-to-day basis.

    Having completed my first year at Brunel university I am pleased to say that for my year including all exams and coursework I managed to achieve a 2.1 in Business management and accounting. Leading up to the exams we had to complete coursework for each exam we had in my case it was 5 and out of the 5 I managed to achieve 5 A’s.

    I tend to view some of my skill-based accomplishments as my main achievements. For example, one achievement of mind is my consistent ability to manage time well. This is proven when during my exams I had to balance and manage my time efficiently not only to revise but I also had a part-time job. As well as that I also possess good communication skills and this is seen when I have had to set up a charity football event in Sixth form, which required me to set tasks to other individuals which had to be complete. Lastly, my capability to work alongside others efficiently is another success that I am honoured to contain & this was shown during the group tasks which I completed in Barclays as part of my professional pathway course. These groups were mixed with individuals from different school, which tested my team working skills.

During my stay, I was able to hear from a few employees that spoke about the working environment they had and the sort of opportunities firms like Grant Thornton offered which I wasn’t aware off.

     

    The Bank of ####ica – My experience at the Bank of ####ica was very intriguing, because I had only a vague idea of the sort of work they do, so throughout the visit I was being taught new things which I was unaware off. Part of this workshop involved talking to a few employees and getting their insight on the work which they do. So, we can get a real idea of how work life is in the bank of ####ica.
