    Employment History

    Chief Electrician

    2012 - Present

I was promoted to the position of Chief Electrician on the recommendation of rig management onboard the Paul B Loyd jnr. I assumed the responsibilities for all electrical and electronic equipment onboard the Galaxy 1. My experience in the day to day running of the department including all paperwork and the mentoring of Electricians and Electronic Technicians, has only added to my confidence and competency. I also gained a massive amount of experience with electronic equipment which was carried out on previous rigs by mainly Electronics Technicians. This includes but is not limited to; F&G, all rig communications equipment and PLCs. I enjoyed the challenge of finding out more about PLCs and particularly the challenge of the programming side. The rig also had Ross Hill SCRs which I had not worked with previously, thus adding to the diversity of knowledge I have gained offshore.

    Rig Electrician

    2009 - 2012

It was here my confidence grew with the experience of different types of rig systems, including but not limited to; different generators, SCR's (GE uDrill 3000) and Top Drive (TDS-4). Also gaining more experience with PLC based rd control systems. I spent a lot of time with 3 party engineers during the 20 year Shipyard project (KV Rotterdam) during the commissioning phase gaining more in depth knowledge of Generator control systems, SCR's (GE uDrill 3000) and various other systems which were replaced/upgraded.

    2006 - 2009

Gaining experience working on a complete range of rig systems including but not limited to; HV generation, Power Conversion (Bautiel SCR's), Drilling systems (Top Drive -TDS-5), and control systems. I was stand alonenightshift electrician for 2 of my 3 years onboard. Also fully adopting and gaining experience in procedural and safety systems onboard.

    2006 - 2014

    Electrical Technician

    2006 - 2006

Working offshore, carrying out accommodation upgrades on the Montrose Alpha Platform. Using braided cable and EX equipment for the refurbishment of the galley and recreation areas. Tracing back and fault finding on the existing installation. Testing and commissioning of new cables. Final connection of new equipment.

    1993 - 2006

During this time I worked mainly with local electrical companies almost exclusively on industrial and commercial projects. I have a period of 1 year when I worked in London for Pirelli Construction on the Jubilee Line Extension on

    Apprentice

    1989 - 1993

Serving my time as an apprentice electrician. Working exclusively on industrial contracts gaining extensive experience in containment, (steel trunking, steel conduit, steel cable tray etc) wiring (SWA, single core PVC, MICC etc) and seeing how a job is done from start to completion. Whilst an apprentice I worked aboard the R.R.S. Discovery when in dry dock in Dundee. All work was surface MICC so it had to be of the highest standard as it would all be visible to members of the public when the ship was re- opened as a museum.

    Profile:
Currently working at the cutting edge of exploration drilling, this is the
culmination of my growth during my 14 years working offshore. During this
time I progressed to Chief Electrician (within 6 years) in 2012, but I decided to
take a position as electrician on a new 6th Gen rig to further my knowledge of
the latest drilling technologies. My experience with new technologies over the
past 5 years, coupled with my previous experience with older more traditional
rigs, means I am equipped to deal with any challenge the industry can offer. I
have my ETR CoC and I am currently going through the necessary MCA
approved courses to obtain my ETO CoC. This should be completed by the
    end of the year.
    Skills:
    Excellent communicator
    Highest levels of workmanship
    Safe working practices
Excellent at interpreting drawings for fault finding purposes
In depth experience in planning and executing jobs with minimal
    supervision
Extensive knowledge of working practises and procedures
    Highly motivated
Ability to learn quickly and apply new found knowledge
Equally proficient working under my own initiative or as part of a
    structured team
Work History: Present back to 1989
    Odfjell Drilling Shetland/UK
Working as Electrician on the 6th Gen DP3 drilling semi-submersible,
Deepsea Aberdeen, which at launch was the most advanced drilling rig in the
world. I decided to take a step back in position to further expand my
knowledge on cutting edge drilling technology. Working with Siemens VFD
Drilling Drives, NOV Cyberbase, NOV KBC 100T cranes, Active Heave Dual
Drawworks (AHDD500), Wartsila DGs and Thrusters, Mux BOP and extensive
automation systems, I am gaining huge experience with the latest and best in
drilling technology. I feel this is enabling me to be ready to meet any
    challenge professionally.
