Manufacturing Operatives - Drayton Site (Part Time)

Natures Way Foods began in 1994, when the Langmead brothers set up a small bagged salad operation. Their big idea was to combine the freshest lettuce with the latest food manufacturing technology. We employ more than 1400 people and operate four manufacturing units capable of producing over 326m units. We are guided by an experienced Management Board. The Langmead brothers remain as investors and Non-Executive Directors ensuring agricultural expertise remains at the heart of the business

We have opportunities for Manufacturing Operatives to join additional shifts to meet an increase in demand. Our Operatives manage and oversee our state-of-the-art production machinery to ensure our product is produced to the highest standards.

This role is offer on permanent basis and will be a 6-hour shift from 6:00pm to Midnight. Working 7 shifts in every 14 days.

You would be working as follows;
Week 1 - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday
Week 2 - Wednesday & Thursday

Tasks within the role includes:
Operation of specialised production machinery, ensuring each machine is always running effectively

Liaising with our Engineering team to ensure the machines are properly maintained

Ensuring our customer orders are met to our high standards

Working with line managers to continuously improve processes and procedures

Tasks within the role includes:
To clean down all production machinery after each production run is completed in compliance with our Food hygiene and factory standards ensuring our productions lines are compliant and ready for the next order schedule.

Maintain high hygiene standards around the machine areas to maintain Food and Operator safety.

Responsibilities
Chemical washing of Production machinery and surrounding areas

Safe and careful handling of cleaning chemicals

Operating and maintaining hygiene equipment

Maintaining accurate and up to date Hygiene records in accordance with company procedures

Our Hygiene Operatives play a key role in ensuring our production facilities run efficiently by minimising downtime between each production run. Although no previous experience is required, we do look for people who can work effectively at pace to minimise downtime and are able to do some manual handling.

Working closely with our Technical and Operations teams, our Product Managers find the best solutions in the field to deliver the best possible raw materials to our factories while ensuring that our grower relationships are the best in the industry and their farming operations are profitable and sustainable.

Key Responsibilities

Predicting quality, availability or yield issues within the supply base and coordinating proactive resolutions through supplier visits and frequent communication.

Communicating supply and quality updates to key stakeholders

Manage arrival rejections of raw materials.

Operational Trainer - Night Shifts

We are looking for an Operational Trainer to support us working night shifts at our Drayton site delivering compliance training for our production teams.

About you:

If you're organised, efficient and driven then we need someone like you. You'll need to have the ability to work at pace with a variety of stakeholders and functions and "Romaine" calm under pressure. The ability to appreciate a salad pun is also desirable.

You'll also need to be capable of working in cold temperatures - woolly jumpers are welcome, all year round!

The team:

The training community is made up of site based trainers, an Operational Training Manager (Bob) and the L&D Manager (Dani). We are a team of 11 people of varying nationalities all working for a common goal - skills excellence!

The Job

You will be working training team in an FMCG (Fast moving consumer goods) production environment.

Lettuce likes to be cool so our production team work in temperatures around 3°C - 5°C so it is cold!

Although mainly factory based, you'll be given your own desk to do the admin parts of the job and strong administration, organisation and communication are key for the right candidate.

To make sure you've got all the tools to do the job you'll get full training and any necessary equipment. Whichever site you will be based at, we will partner you with another NWF trainer for a short period who'll teach you all you need to know to get you off to a flying start.

Shift Pattern hours: Mon - Friday 3pm - 12am - Flexible

Attendance to a Tri Weekly Meeting will be required during standard working hours and the right candidate will have flexibility to work / cover the occasional day time shift to support holiday cover.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Create new training materials in conjunction with relevant departments, maintain and update existing materials as required to reflect process and equipment changes within the business

Planning and provision of operational training activities (core training, 'on-the job training', refresher and other training relevant to operations) across the site

Delivery Providing core training and support to new employees within 'Welcome' period

Assessment and sign off operatives against training materials once competent

Completion of user records using the LMS, keeping training records up to date and compliant with audit standards

Ensure factory standards and ways of working through training, are maintained at all times.

Conduct regular trainee reviews to ensure compliance to procedures

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Ensure all training records are audit ready

Ensure completion of training for all operational staff so that they receive the identified training for their role within specified timeframes

All CCP training is kept up to date with timely refreshers

Supplier installation teams for new equipment

Auditors

Other training providers

Excellent written and verbal communication skills - able to communicate to all levels in the business including managerial levels

Ability to easily build rapport and effective relationships

Able to drive improvement in the training delivered

Passionate about improving the skills of the operations team

Attention to detail

Adaptable and flexible attitude, able to adapt to change

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Working knowledge of food manufacturing processes and equipment

Training delivery experience

Organisational and prioritisation skills

Intermediate IT skills including the ability to manipulate data

Previous experience of using a learning management system (not essential)

Training Administrator

We are looking for a Training Administrator to support the Training Team from our Drayton site on the Chichester Food Park, This role is on Fixed Term Contract til April 2022 with the possibility of becoming a permanent position.

The Job

You will be working in our head office function supporting the administration of training sessions, sourcing suppliers, schedule sessions and ensuring success is all part of the day job.

You'll need to reformat training materials , maintain and update existing training documents as required to reflect process and equipment changes within the business

You'll be responsible for Delivery of Inductions, welcoming new starters into the business as well as planning training and support to new employees within their 'Welcome' period.

Our Learning Management System (LMS) is provided by Cornerstone On Demand and you'll use this daily to administrate user records, keeping training records up to date and compliant with audit standards
