About the Role

As a teacher joining the KS1 team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking full class teaching responsibilities for a KS1 class.

  • Detailed planning and delivery of lessons that are engaging, inspiring and memorable

  • Planning targeted interventions across core subjects to bridge learning gaps and make use of support staff effectively to accelerate pupil progress
  • Keep detailed records of progress and analyse data to inform future planning

The class will be of mixed ability but due to lock down, many of this children have been remote learning during Reception and Year 1 which are crucial stages of development. As a result, the children are not as resilient and independent as they would be in usual circumstances and will need a teacher who can support them through this key stage of learning.

As part of the KS1 team, you will have full access to a range of CPD opportunities and be fully supported in your role. The school has accessible links to wider areas of Manchester and benefits from a secure car park with spaces available for all members of staff.

Essential requirements:

  • QTS Certification.
  • A minimum of 2 Years of teaching experience is desired but not essential

The school is a Primary aged Special School with 110 children aged 3 to 11. They look after pupils with Autistic Spectrum Condition, Severe Learning Difficulties, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties and Physical Difficulties with wide ranging facilities including soft play areas, light rooms and a hydrotherapy pool. There is support individualised for each child with speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and trained nurses.

The curriculum follows the National Curriculum with specifically adapted subjects for each child's needs. Reading is hugely important there, with the phonics based Read Write Inc approach in place. EYFS is based on the 3 primary and 4 specific areas of the curriculum with a multisensory basis. KS1 and KS2 follow core subjects, literacy and numeracy as well as art and music, PE, humanities and design and information technology. They focus on wellbeing, engagement, and development for all their pupils.

I am delighted to be working with an OFSTED 'Outstanding' primary special school in Trafford, who are looking for a Primary Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible on a full time and long term basis with the potential to turn permanent. Pay up to £75/day.


The school caters for almost 100 pupils, aged 2 to 11 who have Autism, Sensory Needs and Speech & Language Communication Needs. They are a very welcoming, friendly and supportive school that really focus on making sure that staff as well as pupils are at the heart of the way they work. They follow elements of the national curriculum at EYFS and KS1 with class sizes of no more than 10 pupils per class. Pupils are group by level so some ages may differ in each group. Lessons and activities are tailored to meet each pupils needs and levels and as the new Primary Teaching Assistant you will need to work closely with the class teacher to support children during class and help prep the environment ready for the day.

Pupils are full of life and enjoy learning despite their obstacles. They all have an EHCP for SEN with most including Autism at some point on the spectrum. Some pupils are high functioning and some more low functioning and will need support with managing emotions, triggers and behaviour as well as managing the class environment in terms of sensory input. Many pupils are working at lower speech and communication levels and may use PECS or Makaton to help communicate.


Staff are extremely complimentary about the support they receive from management and enjoy working there due to the strong team atmosphere and everyone helping each other out when needed. There are opportunities for training and development for long term supply staff as well as perm staff and the role could eventually turn permanent for the right person later in the term.

About the role:

This is a full time and long term Special Needs Teacher role for someone with significant experience teaching young people with Complex Needs or Profound Needs. Pay up to £140/day dependent on experience.

The school is a large special school in the Sefton area that caters for young people with low functioning autism (ASC), Complex Needs and PMLD. Pupils are aged 4-17. Each class has no more than 8 young people however they could be at varying ages and levels. The school is rated GOOD by Ofsted and they have high expectations of what their pupils can achieve with their curriculum heavily based around Speech and Language, Literacy and Numeracy, Personal Development and Life Skills. They are a caring and nurturing environment with a real team atmosphere where everyone mucks in and supports one another. Everything they do is child centred and with their best interests at heart as they aim to help each pupil reach their full potential and support them in transitioning in to life after formal education.


About the pupils:

Young people have a range of Complex Needs, SLD, PMLD and Autism. Many of the pupils require personal care and moving and handling. Although TA's mostly do this, as a Special Needs Teacher you may be required to support in this area from time to time. Many of the pupils have speech and language communication difficulties and sensory needs so as a Special Needs Teacher you will need strategies and methods in place to help with this from a learning perspective. Pupils are generally working at Key Stage 1 or P Levels or equivalent with the school now following the newer 7 Aspects of Engagement.
