Senior Business Manager - Shareholder

Type: Permanent Location: Chester, Cheshire

Cheshire West and Chester Council brings a fresh and energetic approach to providing top quality services for its many customers and communities. West Cheshire is a place where everyone can Thrive - through our core values of Teamwork, Honesty, Respect, Innovation, Value for Money and Empowerment.

Cheshire West and Chester is an exceptional place with diverse scenery and communities. From industrial towns to rural villages and from leading-edge new technology businesses to a strong agricultural heritage, there is a wealth of reasons as to why people want to live in, work in and visit the borough. With a population of just under 330,000, the area covered by the borough includes the major towns of Ellesmere Port, Neston, Winsford, Northwich and Frodsham and the historic city of Chester.

The Council works hard to get close to its communities to ensure their hopes and ambitions for their neighbourhoods help shape the Council's service planning and delivery. The Council has 75 elected members, representing 46 wards, who engage closely with residents, businesses and partners to create real and valuable channels of communication.

As a senior business manager for our shareholdings, you will support the development of our vision for our portfolio of companies and see them thrive. These companies deliver services in excess of £40m per annum and span social care, leisure, traded schools services, customer services and facilities management.

Their success is our success and you will be responsible for providing a crucial link with them, promoting the companies, working with them to develop growth and ensuring the companies contribute to our goals. You will be the key interface between stakeholders, managing a myriad of inter-dependent, often complex relationships at officer, company and councillor level, promoting a culture of openness, trust and collaboration. You will support us to ensure critical oversight of our interests and help inform our strategic decision making.

You will have a strong track record of managing complex relationships across a large organisation, experience of developing and putting into practice effective strategies and a solid commercial background. With that you will bring enthusiasm, initiative and a willingness to try something different.
