Hays Personnel Services is the recruitment arm of Hays PLC, a Top 250 Listed company. During my 11 years’ with Hays I was promoted four times and had the opportunity to work in several specialist divisions on both temporary and permanent assignments. Including:

My brief was to open up and significantly develop new areas of business for Hays, focusing on niche markets and blue chip clients with respect to Senior Financial appointments across South West London and North Surrey. Handled both contingency and retained assignments. Ran advertising campaigns on retained assignments, including campaign management, competency based interviewing with clients. Negotiating and documenting new preferential agreements.
Acted as mentor for junior consultants in region. Left on maternity leave then moved with husband on secondment to Brussels 2005.
January 2001 – June 2002: Senior Account Manager – In House Recruitment Division. Merrill Lynch/Bank of New York
Merrill Lynch & Bank of New York outsourced their temporary and permanent recruitment functions to Hays Personnel Services. Hays acted as Master Vendor on the Bank of New York Account and Preferred Supplier to Merrill Lynch. I had the following responsibility:
Managing and motivating a team of 6 staff responsible for handling all temporary recruitment (Merrill Lynch May 2001 - 2002), permanent recruitment (Bank of NY Jan – May 2001). Handling (as a team) an average of 100-120 permanent live vacancies at any one time, or 20-30 temporary vacancies. Recruiting for a range of vacancies, salaries from £20 to £150,000 including Senior VP & AVP Level vacancies. Arranging meetings with key contacts within the banks including Heads of department, Line managers and Human Resources. Keeping them up to date on recruitment trends, salaries and employment legalities. Liaising with Line Managers as vacancies arose to determine exact requirements. Formulating recruitment plan in terms of job specification, timescales and interview process. Posting vacancy on appropriate job-boards, websites, local or National Press as appropriate and handling response. Arranging agency briefing meetings with client in attendance. Vetting CVs, arranging and sitting in on interviews as required. Arranging assessment or open days. Conveying offers and handling response in parallel with Human Resources. Arranging all referencing and pre screening prior to candidate joining organisation. Arranging and conducting new joiner ‘induction’ mornings. Responsible for preparation of monthly consolidated invoices, which involved regular liaison with Human Resources re: content, start dates etc and also Hays Accounts Departments. August 1998 – December 2000: Business Manager, Qualified Financial Services division, City & Docklands Managing both temporary and permanent recruitment functions for senior roles within Financial Services sector. Clients included US & European &Asian Investment Banks, Retail Banks, Asset manager, Brokerage houses and financial regulators. Typical vacancies included Financial Control, Middle Office- Equity & Fixed Income, Risk, Compliance, audit & Project roles. Staff management- motivating a team of 4-5 staff ensuring financial targets were achieved. Setting of goals, training, arranging staff cover. Business development – Arranging and attending client visits to establish rapport and take in vacancies.
Recruitment – Established my own portfolio of clients whom I built close contacts with. Role involved establishing job specifications, setting timescales, advising on salary. Also advised client on suitability of recruitment methods including database search, advertising campaigns, targeted mail shots or search.
June 1995 – August 1998: Senior Consultant/Office Manager, Bond Street Office. Promoted after 18 months to oversee the office. Managing a team of 7 staff March 1994 – June 1995: Trainee Consultant, Covent Garden office – promoted within twelve months
August 1992 – February 1994 – Graduate Trainee with First Choice Holidays, Crawley, E Sussex. Spent six months on placements in various departments including Aviation, Finance and I.T. prior to joining the Late Sales department. There I was responsible for pricing and marketing flights and package holidays to Europe.
